  • 4/22/2008 Happy Earth Day everyone! We're finally emerging from our food/drink/lactic acid coma; Stage 3 was absolutely the toughest of them all and combine that with a fun post-race "apero" (the Swiss version of a "party") and we needed an extra day to recover. Whew! The Dynamo O'Donnells won the final stage and the entire event in commanding fashion: they finished an overall 83 minutes ahead of Rusty's Revenge and 128 minutes ahead of Val-Kyrie. Val carried her 1 year-old on her back for the final descent into Luzern, and deserves honorable mention for that. As with every day, the views were breathtaking -- but the final push up the snow/ice wall towards the Stage 3 summit is unforgettable and we have some great photos from the entire Pilatus stage. Next up for us: prepare a complete photo gallery, edit the videos, clean up the GPS tracks, and get the whole package online for mass consumption. Maybe even start thinking about the next iteration of this Untamed Swiss experiment . . .
  • 4/19/2008 What a day! Everyone had their share of navigation snafus and the overall lead changed hands three times today, but by the finish in Weggis Dynamo O'Donnell extended their overall lead to 49 minutes ahead of 2nd place Rusty's Revenge and 92 minutes ahead of 3rd place Val-Kyrie. The views were spectacular and you may want to check out some photos from this stage up and down the famous Mt. Rigi. Lots of climbing . . . sun and snow . . . and some unforgettable high alpine meadows. Next up, the giant Pilatus for the longest and highest conclusion!
  • 4/18/2008 Congrats to Dynamo O'Donnell on winning Stage 1 around the Mythens! They built an early lead, but gave it up halfway through the day while Tom explored a bushwhack option down a 500 ft cliff; thanks to Deb's common sense they turned back to find a new route, then recovered in the final two hours to earn a narrow 14 minute win ahead of Rusty's Revenge. We have some entertaining video to share of this! In third place, 38 minutes back, is Val-Kyrie. We have some photos of the Untamed Revolution Stage 1 race; check them out and we'll have some video and more photos soon. Tomorrow, the elevation kicks up a bit on Mt. Rigi.
  • 4/14/2008 OK, we've updated the 'Course Map' by adding the participants from the US (these are the only ones we'll be tracking online); you might see some dummy satellite tracking data in there for a couple teams as we're confirming it all works. It's all coming together . . .
  • 4/3/2008 Part way up to Pilatus, see: there isn't snow everywhere!
  • 4/3/2008 Things get a bit cooler up top as this video of the final approach up Pilatus shows. Amazing views..
  • 4/1/2008 It's a nice clear day for a quick video summary of the 3 mountains we'll tackle: Rigi, Mythens, and Pilatus.
  • 3/17/2008 Here's a video segment from the town square in Schwyz, where Untamed Revolution Day 1 will begin. We're hoping the snow eases up in time for April 18th!
April 18-20, 2008
For three days in 2008 (April 18, 19, & 20), experience a revolutionary event: orienteering and trekking for 3 stages over 3 days in Switzerland, with participants recuperating and relaxing each evening.

Each stage will highlight a different region and offer unique challenges; each evening you can sleep in a comfy bed. Navigation, self-sufficiency, and travel on foot will be the three consistent features of the stages. Participants could encounter snow at the higher elevations, so hiking boots and even snowshoes could be useful -- but these are not required!
