This subject has come up more and more often of late, so I feel like it deserves at least a blog post all it's own. There are racers out there who have competed in many of our events, and when somebody competes in 3 consecutive Untamed adventure races we call it the Trifecta (actually, Kathy Hoverman from ARMD called it the Trifecta and it made us laugh -- so we're sticking with it).
Our 3 most recent events include Untamed New England (July 2009), Untamed Switzerland (April 2009), and Untamed Virginia (Sept 2008).
I know of two racers who have done these 3 most recent events: Joel Jimenez from Virginia and Kathy Hoverman from Maryland. Previous Trifecta-achievers include Val Nordquist of Pennsylvannia (from the brendacohenjewelry.com team -- time to update that website Val) and Tom O'Donnell of Wash DC (from the A-List team). Since our races are currently spread across the Atlantic Ocean, this is quite an achievement. We aren't running Untamed Virginia this year, so it's going to take multiple trips to Switzerland for anybody to achieve Trifecta status in the coming year. Besides the physical challenge, the air travel can be challenging on the pocket book -- even though our Swiss event is really affordable.
Maybe we should honour these Trifecta-folk with a wall-of-fame on our website or some other measure? Maybe a set of steak knifes? Regardless, we will have full details on the 2010 Untamed Switzerland event in a month or two; if you're itching for details, go ahead and contact us and I'll get you on the distribution list. I will leave you with a photo from the prospective 2010 Switzerland course, just as a teaser . . .
