In case you missed it, my post yesterday for Adventure World Magazine focussed on predicting the outcome of the 2009 Adventure Racing World Championships. I don't pretend to have any hidden knowledge about who will win, but I did identify the following teams in my top 5:
- OrionHealth.com (New Zealand)
- Multisport.fi (Finland)
- Quechua (France)
- Lundhags Adventure (Sweden)
- Nike / Beaver Creak(USA)
While I do have a top 10 selected with precise finishing order, I'm not unveiling it until after the race starts on Sunday. We're holding a fun little contest over at www.UntamedAdventure.com/ARWC where you can pick your own "fantasy" top 10 teams and win some cool loot from Ultimate Direction if you do well.
Since the followers of this blog are mostly just my friends, I think I'll agree to buy anybody who scores more points at this online ARWC Challenge a frosty beverage of their choice the next time I see them. What a great way to have some guaranteed drinks with friends, right, since after the first 5 teams the race becomes very very hard to predict -- and there are always injuries and bike problems and other unpredictable factors that can change a race outcome in the blink of an eye.
