Untamed Nuggets -- February Flavoured

Untamed Adventure Racing Blog

Posted by Grant on 24. February 2009 20:48

Twitter has sucked me in a bit; in lieu of writing out a paragraph or two, addinga picture, and posting it here, I can peck out 140 characters (or less) for the Untamed Adventure Twitter account and post from my phone.  I'm still figuring it all out, but the convenience of Twitter is a big plus.  Of course, somethings deserve more attention and a "Tweet" can be just too brief.  I'm finding a balance.

I share this with you in case you're looking for the latest from me, and Untamed Adventure; check us out on Twitter (@Untamed_adv) because even if this space has a blog post that is a week or two old, chances are there's some interesting nuggets over on Twitter.

So . . . I'm going to share a potpourri of our Twitter content here, we could call them "Untamed Nuggets," along with a bit more commentary.  I may do this once a month or so to highlight the most significant items . . . or maybe I won't, we'll have to see.

-Feb 1st: "We've been added to the AR World Series splash page ( http://www.ARWorldSeries.com ), so I feel like we're truly part of the Series now!"

-Feb 13: "Checkout this high quality orienteering movie online: http://www.finnvangelderen.com/O-film/ -- courtesy of www.nopesport.com"
(Watch it and get pumped up to go play in the woods)

-Feb 18: "Great news! Marmot ( http://www.marmot.de ) will be joining us as a Partner for Untamed Switzerland ( http://twurl.nl/wy1nlk )."
(By the way, joining Marmot in partnering with us for the Swiss event will be Aarn packs, Aku footware, Teko socks, and MacPac.  These are some great brands are we're excited to work with them!)

-Feb 20: "Too bad the Turas adventure race http://www.theturas.com is defunct; on the bright side, their PR Director lives in Zurich and we can chat"
(Yes, we're building more connections here in Switzerland and are fortunate to have met the director of PR for the Irish World Series race from 2008.  It's a long story on why the Irish race isn't being run in 2009 and beyond, but it ISN'T due to their PR -- we're learning a lot and this is an area we know we can improve on)$

-Feb 22: "Idyllic day: snowshoe up with 20 cm fresh powder, rosti & black forest cake for lunch, more snowshoeing down, Janes Addiction on the IPod"
(This was a great day of course evaluation for the 3-day Untamed Switzerland race; big snow, big climbs, and even bigger views)

-Feb 24: "This X-Alps race ( http://www.redbullxalps.com ) makes me want to take gliding lessons! There are some classes around here"
(Zurich has a vibrant gliding community and I see advertisements for lessons and training classes once in a while -- very tempting, and I think Jill might even be into it too!  The secretary at Jill's office would take off weekends and go soar/fly/glide --and she is 60 years old, so I know we can do it)
