Race Bibs in our Laboratory

Untamed Switzerland is a nice laboratory for us to test out things for our bigger race in New England later in the year.  Besides exercising our tracking system and other race media elements, we're trying out some new race bibs.  See a pic below (it also shows the official Untamed Switzerland base layer from Marmot -- part of the race swag for this April's racers):

These bibs are the same style as those worn by skiers in the olympics, and they are -- shall we say -- fitted.  Skiers wear these bibs over thin ski tops that are skin tight; our racers in Switzerland will have a bit more layers on, and I think it will be interesting to see how they work out over a shell or jacket.  And thinking ahead to New England in August, how would a tight bib like this work out on top of a PFD?

We decided to just have the race leader in Switzerland wear the trial bib (like the yellow jersey in the Tour de France, the front-runner has a target painted on their back), to not inconvenience everyone in case the bibs are too snug.  We'll see how it turns out, but we have a larger style bib coming our way later this Spring (just might arrive in time for our Swiss race -- I don't know).  I think we love the artwork on the bib, but we'll elect to go with a roomier cut for New England.  Additionally, we'll probably just have AR World Series teams of 4-person coed racers wear the official bibs in August.  Unless, of course, a giant Title Sponsor swoops in to dictate (and $pay$) otherwise!
