My writing energy has been going over to Adventure World Magazine of late; specifically, a preview of the AR World Series for 2010. I have installment #1 (intro and I look at the Ecuador race) and installment #2 (I look at the Poland Winter Challenge in some detail, and brush over the Xtremo6000 because I simply don't know much about it).
I especially like the simple course overview provided by the Poland Winter Race (this happens to be for their 2008 race):
I noticed many races in Eastern Europe offer something like this to give a quick outline of a race, and we're going to adopt something like this for Untamed New England in August. A few days prior to the race, to assist with gear bin packing and planning, we'll furnish an overview such as the above. I'm starting with a draft of the 2009 course, to work out any format issues and to help give curious or prospective racers an idea for how our courses flow.
Speaking of prospective racers, we had a new team sign up for New England every day last week. With that bumper crop, our 2010 New England race roster has 17 teams on it. We're sending out race welcome letters to teams this week, so if you've already signed up look for that in your email inboxes soon.
