It's been a long time coming -- it's been part of our master plan for a while now -- but we're excited to have Untamed New England be a part of the Adventure Racing World Series! As I write this, the AR World Series site is in the process of updating all their data, and our New England adventure race is listed in a few places but not uniformly yet, but I don't mind spilling the beans that our race will be a part of this global circuit of premiere races.
Speaking honestly, I can't imagine a more significant way for us to
distinguish our New England race -- podium finishers will now qualify
for the World Championships in Portugal in December . . . our overall 4-person winning team will earn a free entrance into the World Championship and
$4,000 cash to offset travel expenses related to the getting to the
race in Portugal . . . our 2nd place team will also earn a free
entrance into the World Championship . . . this amounts to well over
$10,000 in prizes just for the first and second place teams, and with
the Euro being much stronger than the dollar it might approach more
like $12,000. This doesn't even include the prizes from gear sponsors
and others, and I certainly can't forget the copious amounts of Long Trail Ale.

This isn't just great for teams finishing on the podium, this means great things for all teams. It means more publicity and visibility for the sport and your sponsors . . . it gives us more leverage with local and regional land managers . . . it encourages us to push the envelope with parts of the course such as whitewater paddling and a rope site with possibly twice the vertical as the 2008 race -- not that the 2008 race lacked in this department, as the photo from the rope site demonstrates:
All in all, this translates into more fun at the race this July!
