The dust has settled from this weekend, and the Untamed New England "Maple Leaf" team (our Canadian contingent) won in commanding fashion at the Wilderness Traverse race in Ontario. There's a nice race report over at RunningFree's website (Running Free was the 2nd place team). A few quotes are circulating about how well the Untamed New England team raced, including the race director Bob Miller reportedly saying that the team "destroyed the course" and "had a flawless race." In the Running Free race report, the author writes how they found the Untamed team on the home stretch of the race:
Late in the race, on an out-and-back leg, "it was
great to finally see the ghost we had been chasing for the past 20
hours! We gave them a “nice work” as we crossed paths and took a look
for fatigue on their faces… Nope… Damn!"
Here's a pic (courtesy of Luis Moreira, who also photographs our New England event) from one of the trek/swim legs at the race:
In more of an urban adventure race in Philadelphia, a hodge-podge Untamed/HRAdventure team finished 4th overall at the GOALS ARA Cradle of Liberty race. They won the all-male division, if I understand correcty. Chris Roberts, who has staffed many of our most remote checkpoints at Untamed New England, led this team at the 24-hour race. Chris is now the director with HRAdventure, by the way.
