We've been recognized in the "Best of" New Hampshire Magazine awards for 2010, which is very cool to see. The fact that any adventure race earns visibility in something like this, along side the "Best Pizza Crust" and "Best Irish Music" for the region, is a good development for the sport. Adventure racing is the greatest sport that few people really know about, so this is another incremental step in the right direction!
Colin, the Media & Sponsor Elf, at the AR World Championships in Portugal last Fall
Colin, our Sponsor & Media Elf, will be at the "Best of" party this Thursday evening at the Verizon arena in Manchester (5:30 - 8:30 PM). I know he'd welcome a friendly face or two, so if anyone else is attending please email him at Colin[at]UntamedAdventure.com. I think his current plan is to loiter around the "Best Beer" and "Best Mexican Food" boothes, so look for him around there.
A more active option for adventure racers this week is the AR training day at Ahern State Park on June 26th near Laconia, New Hampshire. It's organized by our friends with Racing Ahead and you can start any time between 10 AM and 1 PM -- they've set a course that lets you choose if you bike, paddle, run, or any combination that suits you. The cost is just for the maps, $5 each!
There is some nice singletrack riding at Ahern and it's possible Colin (the Sponsor & Media Elf) just might show up to try out his new 29er mountain bike, too! So if you see a guy with a shiny new bike emerge from the trails with a huge smile on his face, that will probably be Colin; if you need another reason to say hello, count on him having a car full of left over "Best Beer" and "Best Mexican Food" from Thursday night, too!
