Our fun end of season event is tomorrow, the Zürcher Berserker in the "Oberland" territory along the fringes of the Eastern Swiss Alps. Pictured at right is some of the fondant artwork going in to the gourmet finish line cake (commissioned by sponsor Stamford Consultants).
Our participant briefing (PDF) is online here:

More about the event can be found on the race webpage: http://www.UntamedAdventure.com/EventCalendar.aspx
And we will be experimenting with some new live tracking devices and some other coverage fun in our Berserker Live Coverage Area. We only have 10 devices (and many more participants), but this will be a good chance to evaluate how these new trackers function -- but 30 second updates is going to be such a luxury compared to the SPOTS!
Stamford Consultants are our presenting sponsor for this event; they're a cutting edge recruitment firm that finds creative solutions for businesses . . . so our enduro/orienteering event is a great fit for their ingenuity and strong presence in Switzerland. Moreover, the owner of the business (at least I think she's the owner...), will be competing on one of two Stamford teams in the event. They have a sort of corporate challenge in the works for tomorrow, and while they may not come to the starting line with much navigation experience they're certain to have a fun day in the mountains, valleys, and forests of the Züri Oberland. For more on these Stamford teams, check out Stamford's latest news item on the event.
We have a blanket of fresh, sloppy snow this morning in Zürich and I know the race region has even more. Might be time to bring the sled to the orienteering event?
As to a preview of the competitors, the last two winners (from 2008 and 2009) will both be racing but neither one is at the top of their game. Staffan Kallback (who we're working closely with on The Apex Race for next year) wonin 2009 but is nursing a foot injury; Christian "the Ibex" Schneider has spent months trekking and traveling through Eastern Europe and India, so he's not what he considers "race fit" at this point. The fact is, we are likely to see a new champion emerge tomorrow . . . and not to jinx anyone, but one duo team to watch is Fiola Foley's (read more about her and her team here). Fiola is very fast, but how do her and her teammate's map skills stack up?
