It took a small army of translators to pull it off, but we now have French and German versions of the APEX adventure race website (www.TheApexRace.com) to go with the English -- and there are tons of details now available including a gear list, discussion of the disciplines, lodging package particulars, etc.
Oh yeah, and you can register for the race now too -- and in the 12 hours since it's been available we have 10 teams already on the roster. Besides one or two from Switzerland (some very good local teams in the mix!), there's a team from Denmark, Slovenia, Sweden, Finland, the UK, the USA, Canada . . . very encouraging to see such strong support right out of the gate.
Nestled in the APEX website are some morsels of adventure racing goodness such as:
- Great mix of race disciplines including canyoneering, whitewater rafting, and paragliding to go along with the more usual biking, trekking, and paddling
- The fine print on the gear list suggests there may be crampons and/or snowshoes required (depends on the weather we have in late Spring in the race region) -- and that this additional equipment, if necessary, can be rented by teams instead of having to buy and travel with all that special equipment
- For the first 20 teams, 4 nights of lodging is included which is a huge deal in Switzerland. As I type this, there are just 8 or 9 slots open to be in the first 20 teams (as another registration just came through a moment ago, this one with Bernard Hug who boasts 10 Ironmans, Raid World Championships, AR World Championships, and other big races on his resume)
I'm sure you'll find your own pieces of AR goodness in the APEX website, so have a look at www.TheApexRace.com!
