Untamed Switzerland will feature state-of-the-art satellite tracking sponsored by TrackMe360.com.

Once each race stage is announced, the checkpoints and a "suggested" route will be available via the live Untamed Switzerland tracking map. We say "suggested" route because participants find their own way to checkpoints and can generally visit them in any order they prefer.

Participants score points for every checkpoint they visit, and race results are determined first by total number of points and second by the fastest time.

More information on the race Stages will be available here in April; race competitors only learn the specific Stage details one night before, and information will be relayed to this website around the same time.

In the meantime, we're publishing the following schedule and Stage information:
  • Thursday 8 April, 5-6 PM: Early Check-in, Station Hotel Pontresina
  • Thursday 8 April, 10-11 PM: Late Check-in & Stage 1 Map Distrubition, Station Hotel Pontresina
  • Friday 9 April, 9 AM: Stage 1 Start -- location TBA
  • Friday 9 April, 6 PM: Stage 1 Finish -- location TBA
  • Friday 9 April, 6-8 PM: Traditional Swiss Meal at the Stage 1 Finish Location
  • Saturday 10 April, 8 AM: Stage 2 Start -- location TBA
  • Saturday 10 April, 7 PM: Stage 2 Finish -- location TBA
  • Sunday 11 April, 8 AM: Stage 3 Start -- location TBA
  • Sunday 11 April, 6 PM: Stage 3 Finish -- location TBA
  • Sunday 11 April, 6-8 PM: Post Race Apero and Awards
Full elevation profiles, distances, and other information will be revealed in late March or early April.

Pontresina is in the southeast corner of Switzerland Pontresina is in a high mountain valley in the extreme southeastern corner of Switzerland, near the Swiss borders with Austria and Italy.

Pontresina caters to skiers, mountaineers, and other outdoor visitors. There are a variety of shops and great restaurants in town, with the emphasis being on Italian cuisine due to the proximity of Italy. The official language for the region is “Romansh,” which is close to Latin (leftover from when the Romans settled the valley), but French, German, Italian, and English are widely spoken.

The region is known for a "micro-climate" the makes for the most sunny days in the Swiss Alps, but also for the cold that sets in once night falls. These conditions are perfect for snowsports and our early April race will showcase the region to the fullest.

Read more about Pontresina at www.Pontresina.ch.

Untamed Switzerland is 3 days of racing; each day is a different stage, with a course closing time around sunset each day. This is a "score" event, where racers earn points for visiting checkpoints on the course; some checkpoints are worth more points than others.

The team with the most points after adding the results from all 3 stages together is declared the winner. If there is a tie in terms of points, the team with the shortest time spent on the course will rank ahead of those who spent longer on the course.

There are penalties for being out on a course after the official closing time, so there is no incentive to spending extra time on a stage after sunset.
