Welcome to 2008!
By the time you're reading this, it'll be the first week of February or even later. Do the math: that's 10% of the way through 2008. There's only 12 months each year; the New Year we just celebrated is already well underway. How is your 2008 shaping up? Are you doing something beyond your limits . . . are dates circled on your calendar . . . what outrageous thing do you have going on for this year? If you're in the market for some adventure, I'm excited to share our 2008 calendar with you as well as some other opportunities for vicarious adrenaline. Read on, and maybe find something to make the remaining 85% of 2008 the most memorable year ever! |

Untamed New England
New England is not an easy place to race. The weather is unpredictable, the terrain is rugged with lots of elevation, and it offers some very remote wilderness areas. The same reasons why racing is hard in New England is what makes organizing a 60-hour event there so attractive. It offers a unique East Coast racing experience and we're really excited about it! The course features lots of orienteering while you bike, paddle, and trek with your team through two sunrises . . . maybe even three sunrises . . . and we've also got a ropes site with ascending and rappelling and a few other tricks up our sleeves. The 2008 Untamed New England Adventure Race will be an absolute adventure and registration is now open via www.UntamedNE.com. |

Untamed Revolution: Switzerland
The name says it all. This is a revolutionary event we're organizing in Switzerland for April 2008. It's a 3-day stage event where each day features a rogaine course on a different Swiss Alp, based around the picturesque Luzern region in central Switzerland. This event is part trail-running, part orienteering meet, part Alp trekking, and all fun! We're keeping this event small, since this is our first international adventure, but we have a couple open spots if you're interested in joining us. More information is at our website. |

Untamed Virginia
Richmond, Virginia will be the scene of the 2008 Untamed Virginia Adventure Race. At 30-hours, with no support crews or gear bins, this is going to be a race you can complete in just a weekend but you remember for a lot longer! The race is set for Sept 13th weekend and we'll open registration on March 1st. This race will sell-out; last year we capped it at 50 teams and hit that number months ahead of the race. September might seem like a long way away, but it will be here soon so we encourage you to sign up early and not miss out on this mid-Atlantic classic! We're excited to have Blue Ridge Mountain Sports again as the Presenting Sponsor of the race, and look forward to pre-race clinics and other promotions with Blue Ridge as the race grows closer. More details on the Untamed Virginia race can be found at www.UntamedVA.com. |

Patagonia
Team Untamed Adventure is racing in the 10-day Patagonia Expedition Race (www.PatagoniaExpeditionRace.com) that starts Feb 10th 2008; it's by far the longest and most challenging event we've entered . . . some say this is the toughest race in the world. We're going to see for ourselves. You can follow our progress in the race via our website, www.UntamedAdventure.com, as we have special permission from the race organizers to call in updates with our satellite phone. We'll also post pictures and other news from the race to this site, so you should be able to share in some of the adventure with us. Wish us luck! Thanks go to all our team sponsors for helping us make this possible! |

Breathe Magazine
If you haven't already found it, I'm excited to introduce you to Breathe Magazine (online at www.breathemag.ca); it is a new and unique magazine for the multisport and adventure sport enthusiast. It's a quarterly adventure sport publication produced in Canada, but with a global perspective, and we were really impressed as we looked over their previous issues. Besides having a high production quality, the issues are packed with actual content -- not just advertisements -- and we found the interviews, recipes, training reports, and race coverage to be exceptionally well put together. Seriously, folks, I hear people whine about the demise of Adventure Sports Magazine all the time. Well, Breathe Magazine fills the same adventure niche and adds some innovative and more "grass roots" elements that make it much more readable. I'm really impressed with Breathe and suggest you check it out; www.breathemag.ca. |
